This seafront home in Bunbury WA had thousands of hairline cracks in the render that allowed the ingress of water to the internals of the home. The existing paints were hard non elastic conventional exterior acrylic paints that do not possess the elastic properties necessary to tolerate movement cracks in masonry.
The entire building was cleaned to remove salts from the surface, sealed with Astec Multiseal and top coated with two coats of Astec Energy Star Dirtguard IR Elastic.
Unlike the use of a normal paint, the building now has a highly durable crack bridging elastic paint surface that is waterproof and will keep the building masonry free from the ingress and damage of seafront salt water.
1- Applied one coat of Astec Multiseal to penetrate, bind and condition the existing surface ready for the application of the new crack bridging elastomeric coatings.
2- Applied two coats of Energy Star Crack Bridging Masonry Paints.
